Did you know that January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month?

We often like to think of January as a time to start with a clean slate. The fresh start of a New Year! January is also a time where we can open our eyes to set goals and get curious about how we can really make and impact this year on the world around us. One way to do that is to open our eyes to the social problems in our world that are happening every day right in front of us and where we can help. Every January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. It is a month where we can bring awareness to the 24.9 million victims of forced labor/sex globally.

How can we help?

  1. Educate: The best place to start fighting human trafficking is to learn more about what it is and where it is happening. Did you know that human trafficking does not only refer to sex trafficking but can also refer to labor trafficking in our nations restaurants, bars, hotels, motels, agriculture, domestic work, traveling sales crews, and even Oil & Gas? Trafficked persons are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of sexual or labor exploitation by the actions of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, obtaining, soliciting, and/or patronizing. Learn to spot the signs of trafficking and how to report, Call the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline: 1-888-373-7888, or Text: HELP to BeFree (233733).
  2. Impact: Zently Workplace is donating $10 for every person that signs up for Beta Test round of the Zently App for the month of January. She has been working with various organizations across town for the last 3 years and we are partnering with United Against Human Trafficking through our beta test round in support of their new survivor services programs.
