New Mindfulness Tips for a Happier Holiday!
For some extra special 2020 holiday help I wanted to make sure to give you tips and tools that you are not already seeing splash across your news feed. Check out these NEW mindfulness tips for a HAPPIER holiday season. Meditation and yoga are certainly going to help you function through the season but here are a few others easy to integrate tips that reduce the seasonal overwhelm!
1: The Present of Presence: Your intention and attention are the best and cheapest gifts you can give this year. Being present with those you choose to celebrate with means setting your mindset up for how you want feel and be in this moment and reducing any distractions that may not align with that. How do you want to feel this holiday season? What does it look like when you show up with that intention? Is there anything you can set aside in this moment to reduce distractions from this feeling?
2: Yule Fuel: Holidays are often a time of feast and celebration. It can also be a time of increased stress around food. Focus on fueling your body with food and drink that bring you VITALITY, life giving energy, both physically and emotionally. Food is not a test, focus on celebration is not “cheating.” In fact, reducing stress and increasing enjoyment around your yule fuel will help you stack your positive emotions, increase positivity, and reduce the cortisol levels that lessen physical vitality.
3: Self Care Santa: Give yourself the gift of self care. This doesn’t have to look like bubble baths and egg nog. Gift yourself time and reduces stress by saying No when something does not align with your schedule. Holiday schedules can be overwhelming and a time of celebration can be a time of exhaustion. Just say No, ho, ho to the overwhelm and Yes to your own energy.
4: Gifting Gratitude: This is a season of being grateful for the people and things in our life. This year, share with those you celebrate what you are grateful for about them! What do you acknowledge them for this year? Maybe they helped you through this rough year, or maybe you are proud of something they accomplished. Tell them. Give the generous gift of sharing your grateful heart. It’s free!
5: Celebration Support: You don’t have to do it all alone. Whether it is needing an ear to share stressful times with or just help with the dishes, ask for support. Sometimes your support squad (friends and family) want to help but they just don’t know how. Ask for what you need and allow those around you to give you the gift of support!
